A legacy since 1846

Hand-tufted in the United States

Unlike mattresses built on fully automated lines, Stearns & Foster® mattresses are hand-tufted and hand-finished by trained craftspeople in the United States. Hand-tufting pulls the layers tightly together at set intervals, which helps keep foam and fiber layers from shifting over time and gives the mattress its tailored, structured look.

Founded in 1846 in Cincinnati, Ohio, by George S. Stearns and Seth C. Foster.
Started out producing cotton wadding and carriage upholstery before moving into bedding.
Early customers were primarily high-end hotels.
Manufactured for over a century at a Lockland, Ohio facility that grew to more than one million square feet.
Every mattress is hand-tufted and signed by the craftsperson who built it.
IntelliCoil® is a patented coil-within-a-coil innerspring design unique to the brand.
